Web filtering

Hi

Just wondering if it is possible to filter web pages on the LX-1010? I don't want people to be able to visit 'inappropriate' web pages.

Thanks in advance

Hi Markyyy,

Web filtering is not something you want to do at the client side. What administrators do in general is to use a proxy server on which they configured rules to prevent people from going to 'inappropriate' pages as you called them. The LX1010 then allows you to redirect all web browser communications to go through that proxy.

How to configure a proxy server is out of the scope of this Thin Client Forum, but I can point you to the wikipedia definition of a proxy server, if you want to check a proxy server does what you are after: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_server

There are also some DNS services that also offer protections and rules against some addresses, you may find some company names on the web using your favourite search engine.

Now if you want to configure access to a proxy server on the LX1010 Lithium, we can help you some more.
Cheers,
Ben
